Two songs by a singer I work with.

I'm responsible for the bassline on both, and it is kind of a trick question but I'm really interested in opinions about the bass sounds.

I cannot differentiate between the two. The bass sounds the same- understated.

Yep, mixed way too low and/or compressed and EQ'ed way too lean for my taste.

Total mud. Increase the mids to cut through the mix.

    There was bass? :bag:

Sounded more like a midi sample upright to me, and not in a good way.

It's so low in the mix you can't hear it anyway. I feel it does not do the music justice at all, which I actually liked by the way.

    No hard feelings, okay?

Yup, that's the trick in the trick question. The first song is DSK Strings samples, the second is my own samples of my own bass.

Funny that everybody seems to think they sound the same, though. I think neither sound great but they sound lousy in completely opposite ways. I guess the differences aren't nearly as big as they are from my point of view, which is really way too close to be accurate. Not seeing the florist for the trees or something like that.

Haha, it's OK. I got a pretty thick skin.
