I feel kind of silly asking this but I've actually been losing sleep over it. I have a white Fender jazz bass and two different options for the pickguard, a white one and a tortoise shell one. Both look great and you cant go wrong with either one, but which one would you use or like better?:eyebrow:

I've had tort on most of my basses, but dig the black on this PJ

  6. I like BWB and WBW pickgaurds a lot. They don't look as cheap in my opinion. I only like tort on burst finishes.
  7. I personally love white with tort.

Which shade of white? Vintage? Olympic? Maple or rosewood.
  9. Tort has the best tone, but white stays in tune better.

Black Tort will get more bottom end.

And just black will give a punchy low mid while retaining clarity with a nice boost around 1.900879-2.000 00001kHz.

But really. Rosewood board and white body, tort. Maple board and white body, white.

The answer to "which pickguard" is always tortoise.

If you as you said can't go wrong with either of your options then I suggest you flip a coin. ;)

    In that case, tort.
  17. I agree 100%. Have tort on my rosewood jazz and white on my maple tele.

  21. +1. I don't really care for tort usually, but I can tolerate it on only two finishes, Sunburst and Olympic White. My favorite, though, is almost always Black.
