Are the BB424/425X and BB1024/1025X available in the US? Music123 has only the 414 series. I'm GAS'ing for a vintage white one.

  2. I've got the 425X. It's amazing!

I know they are available in Europe. Why is Yamaha ignoring US bassists?

Musicians Friend has the 424/425 on sale; they're the ones without the pickguard.

I'm also curious who else has had experience with these, especially the BB1024/BB1024X.

There was a review in Bass Guitar Magazine back in October, did anybody read that?

I think they look fantastic. Too pricey (IMHO) for the 2024x, but man are they great looking. I has a BB300 in my teen years & it was a very good bass....

    I can't afford that.

  11. to me there is not enough difference between the 2024 and the 1024 to justify the cost.

Agreed. The ARE technology isn't worth the extra dough and whats better then growing old with your bass! :)

I tried out the BB2024 and the BB1025 at a store.
The 2024 was actually very nice but I felt it was overpriced in regards to the 1025 which was GREAT at half the price!
The BB1025 has a beautiful very comfy feeling neck and sounds thick and fat if you like PJ setups.
The pickups sound bog and fat, thumpy with nice deinition but bot much upper mid grind or clank. Should sound like a bass is supposed to in the mix IMO.
    I want one.

The stores can get them. Had my bro order this in for me a month or so ago. LOVE it!

  16. I got the BB1024X:

Just to let you know, I have been looking for the "perfect" bass for ME. I have bought, traded, ordered, tried, rejected, sold back many basses before finding this one that was, to me, worth the money for the quality. This bass plays and sound so great, you MUST try one.

The only bass I still have with this today is my Squier Classic Vibe P-Bass in Fiesta Red, but it doesn't get much playing time anymore. I still keep it as a backup, though.

  17. I did buy the issue just to read that particular article. Although they show pics of the 2024X instead of the 1024X and say that the 1024X is about 26 lbs! LOL (it is 9.2 lbs), they gave a very positive review of it.

I got a MF catalog today, and the BB424 is listed as a Hot Buy, and is $349.99.

I go to the website, and they are up to $499.99, and are on clearance. What the ****? :)

I've seen them for $299 at MF a year or so back. They've also been extremely cheap on Amazon.

I can't quite get with those metal pickup surrounds, though.
