Why the different hole pattern on Classic Vibe bridges?

    The standard 5 hole spacing, why change it for these basses? Did they get a good deal from a vendor? Maybe to foil those aftermarket bridge swaps? It seems like it would cost them more money to do this. Any insight into this?

    Metric as opposed to standard measurements.

    Yup. As an example, take a pickguard screw from an MIA Fender Jazz and one from an Indonesian Squier, a VM J, the screw from the Squier is noticeably larger for that same reason, metric vs. standard (imperial?) measurements.
