Mint condition, no issues, only selling because I'm scaling down my playing and I don't need so many basses.

    Here are the Specs:

    Style: Jazz Bass
    Shape: Modern 5
    Body Wood: Chambered Alder
    Top/Back: Trans-Black Curly maple
    Weight: 8.5 lbs
    Fingerboard: Rosewood
    Scale Length: 34"
    Fingerboard Radius: 14"
    Nut Width: 1 3/4"
    Sring Spacing: 18mm
    Frets: Vintage 6130
    Inlays: Clay Dots
Neck Finish: Vintage Tint, Satin Back, Gloss Headstock
    Pickups: Wilkins Stacked 5
    Electronics: Demeter 3 band pre-amp
    Hardware: Hipshot

This one retailed for over $4K. In reality it's probably worth between $2,500 and $3,000 but I'm pricing it to sell quickly and hopefully it will.

    NO TRADES PLEASE!

    $1,980.00 Shipped in the CONUS

    Thanks for looking!

Yeah, I got it in a trade with honest abe but in reality I just don't "need" it so that's why you see it here. I have 5 basses in the classifieds right now as a result of less stage time in 2013. I'm finding myself in the studio more than onstage these days.

This is the best deal in a high end 5er here on TB!

Awesome color! Not familiar with Wilkins pickups, I was under the impression that he used other manufacturers for pickups. Are they actually made by him, and sonically are they similar to HC jazz pickups by any other manufacturers that come to mind? Thanks.

They are stacked humbuckers pickups that have a single coil quality to them. They remind me alot of Suhr humcancelling jazz pickups.

Thanks Abe, this bass does have a very nice single coil sounding vintage voice. But it's also dead quiet. The Demeter preamp is quite transparent and adds little or no coloration to the sound of the bass. You actually get to "hear" the character of wood that it's made out of. What a concept! ;)

That's gotta be the sweetest Trans Black finish I've ever seen. Very "Rich" looking.

Bump for a tremendous value in a boutique J5. Lightweight, fast neck, broad tonal palate, dead silent electronics and world class looks (in absolutely mint condition)! All for under $2K.

Honestly this bass will easily give an NYC Sadowsky 5 a run for it's money with good looks and great tone in a comfortable, easy to play package!

Ha yeah, I don't think it was set up properly when that photo was taken...... The first thing I did when I received it was to change the strings and do a proper setup. It's a bit further back now!

Bump for my buddy, Spencer! BTW, the intonation or saddle pattern is fairly typical for any bass strung with a tapered or exposed-core B string. They tend to intonate well ahead of what you'd expect with conventional full-wrap strings.

Thanks Riis! I have found this to be true as well. With a taper core B string the saddle does adjust differently.....
