Will these cause any problems?

I recently broke the pg on my Squier J bass. But, being extremely short on money, I couldn't afford a new pg (conversion rates are a bitch here in Malaysia) so I opted to have no pg and just covered up the routing on the bass with some electrical tape. I couldn't care less for its looks, so my only concern is will this cause any problems in the future? The sound has not seemed to be affected whatsoever.

    I second the above response.

And shame on Fender/Squier for forcing jazz basses to wear pickguards.
