I agree... must be the season to load up if you can. Just picked up a MIM Fender Jazz 60th Anniversary 5 string for $160. In perfect condition too. I've been seeing quite a number here on TB classifieds and also in my local CL.

For those looking for the singlebuck basses (squier, etc), might check you local craigslist or even Guitar Center Used Gear ...

Yup, great time of year to have extra gear cash around. Definitely a buyer's market. Everyone's offloading their gear to buy gifts for the holidays or prepping to pay their taxes.

I'm always looking...sucks when I find a deal and don't have the money though.
Nothing too interesting on CL locally...deals vanish quickly or you find something good 200 miles away or worse, some idiot with that has what you want but is asking a fortune and refuses to be reasonable.

Earlier this year picked up a Yamaha RBX375 for $160 off CL. Decided I don't want a 5r so traded at the local store for a 'dean edge 4' - yamaha and $100. Turns out it isn't an edge but a Jeff Dean Player in like new (aka perfect) condition. The player is china built with edge pickups/pre amp. Still, for 260 all in I think I did well.

A lady had a beatle bass listed - no brand, no shot of the headstock, no strings so not playable and no price, just 'no reasonable offer refused'. Reasonable to her was in excess of $300...I wonder if she ever sold it.

There are plenty of high end basses for sale and plenty of " mint except for...."

I bought one of those a month ago... mint except for a gouge the size of Rhode Island on the back and the strings were something like an inch and a half from the fretboard. Needless to say, I got it for a much lower price and was able to fix the neck issue.

Yep seems to be a lot of that. Also a lot of really goofy "mods" by former owners.

The "mod" thing seems to be popular, with sellers.

Mint is overrated IMHO...display vs play. Kind of like watching porn vs having real sex.
But to each his own! Of course, I am the proud recent buyer of a slightly dinged, somewhat worn finish on the neck early Lakland 55-94. No case candy, no OHSC. Just my dream bass in player condition in a Mono gig bag at an affordable price. Yeah!

Buyers market this time of year for sure, but there ARE generally Foderas, Sadowskys, ACs, Ken Smiths, etc. in the TB Classifieds. Not much different than usual IMO.

The high end basses are sitting though. $3000-7000+ basses rarely sell in less than a week or two lately.

    yes and know.
If you are after a bargain then you may not care about a few scratches. But I'd rather have mint - like new only cheaper, right?
but then some distress their instruments on purpose.
