I just got this bass and it is in excellent condition.... I just am not getting comfortable with the string spacing and response. Absolutely nothing wrong with the bass, just a preference.

I was really hoping this bass would work out so if there is no interest here then I will give it a few weeks to see if it grows on me.

$3500 shipped. with Zon gig bag.

    No trades.

Good idea. I am assuming you are talking about the fingerboard. These basses are originally made with an extended fingerboard that acts like a ramp. This bass was modified by Zon in the fact that the extension was removed. Of course you could have a ramp made if you wanted one. One nice feature on these basses is that the pickups are radiused and act as ramps themselves.

That is a mid selector switch. I do not know the exact settings of the frequencies but seems to be a high mid, mid and low mid.

Other controls are Volume, Blend, bass mid and treble.

What is the body wood? Alder?

    Any mods to the electronics?

African mahogany body, standard electronics except for the added mid switch. The switch was on it when Zon made it new so it was not added later.

The bass was made for display at NAMM in 2008.

I had the fingerboard on my TJ5 Fretless shortened also. Now just 29 positions.

    This is a tempting bass....

Is it 16.5 or 17mm spacing? Any neck-dive?

One of the best graphite-necked models on the planet. These DO NOT come up often.

Do you have an exact weight? And what does balances fine mean? I have had two TJ 6ers that were both neck heavy.

I have that it is right at 9.5 lbs.

Balance is hard to describe because it depends on several factors like strap type and how you angle or hold the bass.

On me, I can position the bass and let go and it does not move.

I guess that with a five string vs six string you have a neck that weighs a bit less and one less tuning peg, that may be the reason for the better balance.
