Sending my US made G&L L-1500 down the line. It's a cool bass in very nice condition but I'm not diggin' the P-bass nut width. This bass has a 2 pc alder body with an ash top that is stained Transparent Green. It also has what appears to be an ash binding around the body (see pics). It looks like the edge of the ash top was not stained to give the appearance of a body binding, you can see the matching ash grain in the binding move into the stained ash top. It's a very cool look without the sharp edges of plastic binding. The neck is maple with a maple board with a 1 5/8" (42mm) nut width. Frets are good and the truss rod moves freely. The weight is 9 lbs 4 oz on my kitchen scale.
Condition wise it's pretty nice for a 17 year old bass, it has one larger scuff on the back (not thru to the wood). The neck has a very slight scuff at about the 10th fret will two smaller dings below it. They are not noticeable to me while playing and I'm pretty picky about that stuff. There is also a small dent at the third fret on the fret board (see pics). A thumb rest was added before I got it and is nice for playing closer to the neck to get those warmer tones. The knobs have been changed, they were mismatching when I got it so I fixed that. The screws for the strap buttons don't look original but they work and are tight so I just left them alone.
The bass has a single pickup in the bridge position and has both an active and a passive mode with a series/parallel switch. The pre-amp knobs are cut only and work in both passive and active mode. The passive/parallel mode is where I like the sound of this bass with the tone knobs up full. In active mode the treble needs to be cut at least in half to sound good to my ears. These basses are known for being quite aggressive in the active mode but still have a great tone.
***Shipping Note*** (PLEASE READ)
I am shipping this bass from Manitoba, Canada. To keep the shipping rate reasonable I will be sending this bass with the neck off. I will put the body is a light gig bag and wrap it with bubble wrap. The neck will also be securely wrapped in bubble wrap and packed beside the body in a cardboard box. Shipping a full length bass from Canada to the US is not an economical option.
Asking $650 Firm (US Funds), shipped to Canada or the Lower 48 states. Others please contact me to get a shipping quote, it will be more. Paypal is preferred, unless your are from Canada and we can do an E-transfer between banks.
The only trade I would consider right now is a Fender Roadworn Jazz (preferably in Sunburst).
