A month or two ago, someone put a Rob Allen 6 string up on Ebay. I think
the opening bid was $1800 and the buy-it-now $2800. It didn't sell.
I saw it again here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2553293807
where it sold at a surprisingly low price. The winning bidder says it
looks like a hijacked account. However, I would guess that the first
posting was legitimate, because the pricing seems realistic. That means
it might still be for sale. Does anyone recall anything about the
original listing?
This is for my bass teacher, who is currently very happy with a 6 string
fretted Rob Allen that she got from Bunnybass. She's itching for a
fretless, and it would be silly for her fretless to be more "electric"
sounding than her fretted. Rob Allen says he's only made 7 6-strings. He
could make her one for $3500, but if I could find the guy who wants to
sell his anyway, she could have it defretted and save a bundle.
Any advice on other appropriate basses would be appreciated as well. She
plays jazz and loves the light weight.
