For sale is one of the rarest of the rare - an Audiokinesis TC115W, with the 4-ohm 15" Eminence speaker, a great horn and crossover, and fabricated from composite rather than wood.
For a short period of time Mike Arnopol, a great bassist and builder/designer of speaker cabinets, built some Audiokinesis Thunderchild cabinets out of the same kind of composite material used to make surfboards. This ultra-rigid, ultra-light material proved difficult to work with due to health concerns from the fibrous dust, so there are not a lot of these cabinets out there. But they are way light, and some commentators on the Audiokinesis TB thread have suggested they may be the best sounding of all of the Audiokinesis cabinets.
The TC115 no longer is available in a 4-ohm version, although Audiokinesis has reserved some number of the 4-ohm drivers as spares for replacement. This is the "Wide" version - somewhat more response in the very lowest range. But the weight is laughable - maybe 33 pounds, so far as I can figure out. That is 33 pounds of 4-ohm, 500-watt Thunderchild goodness!
Measures around 25" x 20" x 15"
This easily is the best cabinet I've ever ever owned. Only selling because I've begun downsizing to single 10" bass cabs. This has been used regularly so the protective corners have some screws with the heads broken off. My wife set a candle warmer on it for some time so the composite material created a bubble but is aesthetic only. The tone and volume of this cab is awesome. Because of it's horn rather than tweeter it is very even sounding and the high end is not harsh. There is a switch to turn the horn off if you like. This would also be a great DJ, karaoke, or PA speaker. Comes with 4 port plugs which can be screwed into the rear bass ports to adjust bass tuning for different rooms.
Asking $900 obo shipped (shipping is around $300). These cabs retail new for about $1,200 and take several weeks to deliver. And I believe the composite versions are no longer being made at all.
