is the Alesis a good one for bass? How does it compare to some of the tube ones. I need a compressor as well. The comrpessor in my BBE383 is not that great.

i suppose your answer will depend on who is answering the question. i have an alesis and was never happy with it personally. on my DAW i just added a UAD-1 powered pluggins card which has software versions of the 1176LN and the LA2A, both classic compressors. If I had the cash to get a hardware compressor now it would be a cranesong trakker or empirical labs distressor.. end of discussion.
