I put this bas together from parts (Alder WD body, Mighty Mite neck, etc..) as a Darkstar bass, but I think I've decided that I'd rather put the DS in a hollowbody, and so I've converted this back into a straight P bass.
She really is a looker, and she sound's killer, plays great, but I've got a HWY 1 P as my main player right now and I'm trying not to keep more than one P in the stable, so I'm seeing what the possibilities might be.
The whole story with this bass includes an aftermarket decal. These are all licensed Fender replacement parts, but it is a parts bass for sure. The bridge is a very sweet Hipshot vintage style bent plate. The pickups are duncan designed out of a VM and are great sounding (and HOT!)
here's a headstock shot
The one important thing to note is that the neck pocket was routed a bit wide (like 1/16 of an inch) so I glued in a little hardwood shim. It's poplar so that it is nearly unnoticeable next to the maple neck, but you could paint it if you wanted. Surf green is notoriously hard to match, so after one go I left it natural.
and a close up w/o the pickguard:
With the shim the neck is solid as a rock, but I want you to know the whole story.
Anyway, here's the deal. I'm not in a hurry to get rid of the bass, but I am curious as to what might be out there. I need something to put my Darkstar in, so I'm interested in trades for hollowbodies (Epiphones, Ibanez Artcores, etc) so if you have one of them you can run it by me. I'm open to +/- cash to make it even.
I'm not really looking for another Fender-esque basses at this point.
For an outright sale I'm looking for $500 shipped ConUS (US SHIPPING ONLY) and definitely a little discount for local pickup in Durham.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
