Letting this bass go truly breaks my heart! I've loved this instrument for years and told myself many times I'd never let her go, but the time has come. This is a Fender Crafted in Japan 70s Reissue P bass, in sexy black with gorgeous blocks and binding. Killer looks! The Q serial number dates it to the 2002-2004 period.
Weight: 9lb 3.1oz
I purchased this bass several years ago from a very cool gentleman who had it very cleanly and professionally modded to accommodate a real-deal Fred Hammon Darkstar pickup. This is by far the highest output bass I have ever owned, even being passive! The previous owner also fitted her with the Bettie Page neck plate, which I found to be pretty cool.
The following upgrades happened in her time with me:
- Hipshot Brass A Style Bridge
- Hipshot Double Stop D-Tuner
- Hipshot Nickel Tuners
- Dunlop Strap Locks
- Some sweet looking knobs
She is currently wearing La Bella Olinto Signature Flats, and they really sing on this bass! Below is a link to an in-studio performance with a band I used to play with here in Philly - As you can hear, this bass is PUNCHY!!!
The Bottom Line: This is a really special bass. It plays and sounds awesome, with looks to die for. She has some scratches, buckle rash, etc which are hard to photograph and impossible to see from stage distance. This is a serious rock and roll machine, and she's been sitting for a while now. Somebody should be playing this thing!
Will ship in a cheap gig bag for protection, and she will be well-packed. Asking NOW 1250! at this time. NO TRADES PLEASE : ), if I didn't need the money, I wouldn't be selling this. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions!
