I purchased 3823 from Kevin at Sadowsky Guitars. Paid 2850 + 60 shipping. Their description was...
"Circa October 2002. In good condition. It has been played. Dings and scratches here and there, but nothing serious. No serious wood is showing. No deep gouges. Great bass to just take to the gig and not break a sweat worrying about. Includes brand new hardshell case."
The description was accurate, the finish nicks were tiny but over all the body was better than I expected. The bass sounds and plays wonderfully. Unfortunately, there also were a couple of little bumps on the back of the neck too. You'd have to try to feel them, but they were there. I have a real OCD "thing" about back of a bass neck. I can't get it out of my mind. I decided to return it before the evaluation period was over. I paid for the return shipping.
Kevin was super nice, he apologized. I told him I'm sure that there are others that wouldn't care about the small bumps and he had nothing to apologize for. I just couldn't get past them. I had a nice Fender Deluxe V, I'll just stick with it until the next used NYC comes up there or on TB. That's when they blew me away. After talking to Roger, Kevin asked if they sanded and refinished the neck for no charge, would I still be interested? I still had the option to return it if I wasn't satisfied. I talked to Roger directly. He said they weren't that bad and he'd make it right. A week later it came back perfect.
Why am I selling? I dipped my toe in the NYC pool and I like it. I want a brand new one. I'm going to order one exactly the way I want it.
