For sale FS/FT: '78 Aria Pro II SB1000 (MD/VA/DC)

You know the drill. GAS has a hold on me, and I've decided to let go of a very nice bass to satisfy it. The only trade I'd be interested is a fretted 4-string birdsong (plus cash from me).

For sale is a very early SB-1000. This one, is, in fact, a prototype, and as such, it is sometimes called an SB-750. One unusual feature that goes with it being a prototype is the bolt-on neck. Everything else is identical to the SB-1000 that we all know and love.

Thunderitter has put $150 worth of labor into the bass to make it look and play it's very best, and I must say that he worked some serious magic. Aside from a few dings an dents to the poly finish, the bass looks like it just came off the showroom floor, and it plays as good as it looks... no issues whatsoever.

GAS is an expensive thing, and I'd like to get $850 for this rare and excellent specimen. I am, however, looking for a quick and local cash sale, so I'll consider reasonable offers.

I have to thank Thunder for doing a really excellent job on the bass. I can guarantee that, largely as a result of his hard work, the buyer will not be disappointed with this one.

I'll give ya twice what ya paid for it ;)

Wish I had the cash.,.... Very cool bass, have wanted one for probably 20+ years.

good luck with the sale. :D

Thanks for the info Anthony.

I'll leave the price as is, but I'm open to reasonable offers. Would still prefer a trade... nothing particular in mind beyond a medium or short scale bass... just looking to try something new.

Well... the bass is currently out for a fret polishing, so I can't get an exact number... it's P-width at the nut, and since the strings don't taper on these, it's P-width at the heel (and at the bridge, 16mm string spacing) as well. It looks a bit odd, but is actually very comfortable to play. It's clear how Cliff played so fast so high up on the neck (besides the fact that he was really good) because the neck stays narrow all the way to the heel.

I got a chance to play this a couple weeks ago and this is a killer bass! I would snag this if I had the cash. Fun and easy to play with killer tone. One of the most verstaile single pickup basses I have heard/played.

This is the very short lived SB-800. This is essentially the first issue SB 1000 ("bat ears" headstock, no led light) with a bolt neck instead of neck through and a rosewood fingerboard instead of the Jaquoranda (later Ebony) that was used in the SB1000.

I have one of these, and I will NEVER part with it. Great bass. If I had a spare grand I would be all over this.

Someone is gonna get this and be very glad they did.
