I'm selling a Lightwave fretless 5 string with a myrtle top and all of the proceeds will go to Katrina relief efforts. My firm provides matching for contributions.
This is a 2005 model, not a demo model. I am the original owner. I believe that I got one of the last myrtle tops, and my guess is that you won't see any more. (I think that the distributor may be liquidating his stock.) The Lightwave has a matching myrtle headstock veneer. The hardware is blown gold. The bass works perfectly.
The bass has a strong fundamental. Someone here described it as a P-bass on steroids. Some talkbassers say that they sound like an upright. Being an upright player, I'm not so sure about that, but they do have a very nice fretless sound.
The bass is in pretty good condition. There is a small cosmetic crack in the black veneer below the fingerboard. The crack is just in the veneer, so it could be replaced, but I had Jimmy at NY Bass Botique clamp and glue it for me. It does not affect sound, stability or playability. I also had Jimmy replace the wood screws bolting the neck with machine screws. I just like the stability that machine screws provide. I will include the original wood screws if you want them.
There is some cosmetic wear on the fingerboard, but I used tru oil on the fingerboard so the wear is really just through the protective coat. A few coats will make it shiny as new. I'll include some spare tru oil if you want it.
Otherwise, the body has no wear and the bass never left the smoke-free house.
The bass will come with the gigbag (which is very nice), the instruction manual, the charger, and the allen wrenches for adjusting the optics.
I will take bids until Friday, September 16 at noon. I would much prefer to sell to someone who can pickup in NYC. (I'm charitable, but lazy. ) It is available to try or pickup in NYC. If you live in NYC or you have friend in NYC, pm me and we can arrange a time. No international sales.
My firm matches up to $1000 for contributions to The Red Cross, The Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity and Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund. Your choice. Details and more pictures can be emailed. Just send me your email address.
