here's an example where I used the stainless steel fretwire and pearl inlay (less than 1 oz was used for the entire inlay).
this instrument is still not finished, so it looks a little rough.

Out of curiosity- what cap would work best in a p-bass trying to nail that vintage tone, that is if any of them are suitable. Let me know, and I'll take 2 of them.

Anything .047uf through .1uf will do fine. The higher the number, the more you will have the highs rolled off when the tone knob is rolled off. Most vintage P's were, IIRC, .047uf. I'd say buy one of each and try them all, see what you like!

I'm curious. What are you using for tooling and files for the SS wire?

Thx,
-Dave

regular files work fine, which is what I use for beveling and smoothing the edges, and I have a diamond crowning file and a flat square steel diamond block thing, originally made to sharpen tools, but it works great for fret leveling on a no radius fingerboard. you probably dont need the diamond files, but I happened to have them and they work great. I would recommend using some larger snips to cut them to size though, it gives more leverage and makes it a little easier to cut through.

Where did you get the diamond crowning file? Do they have them in a variety of shpes/prfiles/sizes?

Thanks again! :D
