Greetings,
This is the 2nd Kinal I acquired on this fine forum. Mike Kinal makes some exceptional guitars and this one is no exception although I just haven't connected with this one like I did with my first one!
These instruments have a strong following here on TB for good reason!
This bass is in exceptional shape considering it's a vintage being like 21+ years old, no dings dents or gouges anywhere!!
Just some minor "swirls" on the face & back that won't photograph very well.
Truss rod works as it should, frets are near mint with no buzzes or dead spots anywhere!!
I'd give it a 9 out of 10 easily!
This pre which is a collaboration between Bill & Mike is by far the most flexible, best sounding ever! The EQ bypass switch allows you to dial in whatever sound you want then go back to detent settings by just a flick of the toggle (very effective/useful for slapping and more aggressive techniques!!)

I'm mainly looking for a cash sale as I'm recovering from spinal surgery & need to satisfy some hefty co pays! Trades are always a consideration with $$$ coming my way
(no 4 bangers, Just 5 & 6ers )
LMK what you got as I'm always curious!

Anyways here is the bass for your consideration

The one Black string was intentional as I was experimenting with different DR Coated Strings That Day!

Update:
11/24
I have installed a Bart b-axis pickup in the neck position just to see what all the rave was about & it's AWESOME
No mods necessary as it dropped right in although the original will be included so it can be put back if so desired!
Also have a fresh setup with new Ernie Ball long scale strings that go through body!

Please Note:
Price is negotiable although shipping is not included in the final price therefore buyer can choose whatever courier they want!
Please note that I'm only looking to deal with those with good TB History/Feedback!

Thanks for Stopping By

Hey swpyne,
Thanks for the kind words!
Yes she is a killer bass and I know once she is gone I will miss her!
Oh well looks like this one will have to keep me company....

Great looking Kinal 5 here, i bet it sounds fantastic.
I was just over at Mike's place yesterday, taking one of my Kinal 5's in for a set up.
He's a great guy and fantastic Luthier.
GLWTS
Thanks For Kind Words Good Sir!!
You are most fortunate to live close by an incredible Luthier like Mike and yes she has quite a unique sound alright! The collaboration between Mike & Bill Bartolini on the pre puts it in a class by itself for sure! From what I understand there weren't that many made so whomever gets her will be a very happy camper indeed!! If it weren't for the fact that I have med co pays stacking up from spine surgery, I would never let her go as she's going to be impossible to replace :bawl:

Bump & price drop!
If anyone knows the value of these masterpieces, it's the fine folks on this forum! Most unfortunate I have to let her go over Med Bills :bawl: But that's the way it goes, willing to be flexible on terms, PM me for more details
Thanks

Update / Bump!

I've always LOVED the way this piece sounds although have always been curious about
"b axis" pickups since they seem to be the rave!
Please note that it will drop right in the existing cavity without modifications!
And IF I sell her after all this, I will include the original so it can be put it back if so desired!

That said I'm going to drop one in the neck position with of course a fresh setup which will include Ernie Ball long scale strings which will go through body (which I haven't tried yet) along with a lemon oil drink for the fretboard etc.

I will update the ad with new pics once complete :hyper:

BUMP!

Mods are completed and she sounds better than ever!
I see now why b axis PU'S are the rave although I liked the way the original sounded as well!
IF I let her go I will include the original but in NO hurry!

Enjoy

Bump!
Got some GAS so down goes the price!
Would also consider trades for semi hollow guitars i.e. Gibson, Eastman, Gretch etc.
Cheers
