I am selling four great pieces of equipment. If you're into natural reproduction of your instrument, this is without a doubt some of the best equipment you can get.

Firstly, two of the finest items in double bass amplification made by Swiss company Schertler (actually the Pub speaker is made by their Italian partner SR Technology but marketed as a Schertler product).

1. Schertler Pub 2/280 280 watt bi-amplified two-way speaker (professional-looking hard shell version). Comes with Schertler padded carry bag (one zip is broken/off-track - other works fine and allows you to zip up the entire case) and Schertler "lifter" which goes into the polemount and allows you to angle the speaker off the floor (if you so desire). Amazing low-end clarity and volume from a tiny box - has to be heard to be believed. Used by Larry Grenadier, Dan Greenspan, Rufus Reid, and others. Note that this is a powered speaker unit (amps and speakers). It does not contain a preamp. You can't just plug your pickup/mic straight in as the level is not usually high enough. Typically used with a preamp like the Solstice (see below) or the Schertler Pre-A II or other low-cost preamp. Unit has a small white mark on one lower corner but is otherwise in excellent condition. See http://www.schertler.com/prodotti_ing/loudspeakers/pub280380.htm for details and specs.

Currently retailing at USD 1490 from LNR MUsic and very hard to get. I will sell for USD 700 OBO (and of course no tax).

2. Schertler Dyn-B double bass transducer (contact mic). Beats any pickup (piezo or otherwise) for natural sound reproduction and amazingly easy to install, remove, and adjust (EQ). No stupid crap in or under your bridge, no ridiculously loud arco or fingerboard sounds, etc. The closest thing you can get to a mic (and in this cases it's really true even though they say that for every damn pickup on the market). Used by Larry Grenadier, Dan Greenspan, Rufus Reid, and others. Unit is in excellent condition. See http://www.schertler.com/prodotti_ing/pickups/double_bass_DYN-B.htm for details and specs.

Currently retailing at USD 595 from LNR Music. I will sell for USD 350 (and of course no tax).

Secondly, a complete preamp/blender/para-EQ package suitable for guitarists or bassists (or amplification of any other instrument). Great high-quality sound. With the demise of Raven Labs, these are the best units around for sound quality, features, and portability.

3. D-TAR Solstice - two channel preamp/blender with four inputs. Lots of features in a tiny box. Handles piezo pickups, mics, etc. Comes with 110 V power supply and padded carry bag.
4. D-TAR Equinox - parametric EQ. Lots of features in a tiny box. Comes with 110 V power supply and padded carry bag.

See http://www.gollihur.com/kkbass/d-tar.html or http://www.d-tar.com for details on both units.

If you buy both of the above units with the carry bags from Bob Gollihur, the package deal is USD 639. I will sell both units for USD 390 (and of course no tax). Everything in pristine condition. Prefer not to separate as the units work very well together.

The Pub 2/280 + Dyn-B + Solstice + Equinox is a complete package for double bass amplification. I would prefer not to separate and will sell all four units together for USD 1400 (a total saving of over USD 1300 off retail prices not to mention that you don't have to pay any tax) and will also include the necessary cables to connect the units. If you're looking to get setup for amplification or looking to upgrade then you've got a great deal right here.

Comments

I have knocked another USD 149 off the price of the Pub. I don't know whether it is kosher to bump a sale for a reduction in price. I believe I do recall doing it before and Sam saying it was OK but if the mods are not happy with that, let me know.

Pardon me for asking, Adrian, but why are you selling the Pub? As far as I can recall, you had nothing but high praise for this unit.

Thanx and cheers,

Vincent

For one thing, I just put an extension on the bass that cost me a fair bit of money and I need to "pay for it." Right now I am not doing many amplified gigs and I'm getting more into the classical side of things. Almost all of my recent and upcoming jazz gigs are acoustic. Ultimately though, I think I may want to have multiple setups for different things. I have some large ensemble things coming up for the future where I will ultimately want an even bigger rig. In the meantime I have access to "loaner" equipment that I will be able to use if I need it.

You're welcome to borrow my iAMP 800 Combo if you need it and I'm not using it, Adrian.

All items except the Pub are tentatively sold. I really want to be done with this so I have dropped the price on the Pub yet again to USD 700 and I will also entertain other offers. Also I will give preference on the other items to anyone that buys the whole lot so you can get the Pub, Dyn-B, Solstice, Equinox, and cables for USD 1400.
