Rare Raven Labs APD-1 "active/passive" DI box with blendable side-chain effects loop. These were discontinued in 2004 and Steve Rabe (SWR and Raven Labs founder) has retired, so you will NOT see another like this, in original packaging.
The unit accepts up to two inputs, with in/out switch for each. The effects loop can be sent to the DI and the line out OR to the line out only, leaving the DI clean. The unit runs on two 9v batteries or an adapter (not included and frankly, not needed since you get up to 100 hrs out of a pair of 9 volts).
The "active passive" concept is that the signal is boosted through an active gain stage, then fed through a proprietary passive transformer capable of full isolation with only 2db insertion loss. You can select from four XLR output levels: -20, -10, 0, and +6 (which is twice the input level). Mute and phase switches are also located on the front.
Construction is incredible. Little rack rails protect the front. Awesome duracoat finish has a slight roughness for easy gripping.
Several reviews compare the APD-1 favorable to the Avalon U5. They are SO rare and this one is in the ORIGINAL box. Questions welcome.
This unit retailed for $349, I'd like $250 shipped to the lower 48, paypal preferred.
