C'mon, guys...1275 for a SMITH?!? This isn't a Burner...this is the real deal!! A handmade Ken Smith!! Not a Bob Smith, a Shmidt, a Schlitz or a Smithsonian...it's a freakin' KEN SMITH!! It plays AS WELL as any of the boutique basses I've owned, which is well over 100!! (No kidding ! )

Don't be cheap!! Someone step up!!

This bass is smoking in every way, and $1275 is a ridiculous price for a bass of this condition and caliber. Considering that $1275 will barely get you a Lakland Skyline, it is a steal. Like Matt, I've got jazz bass GAS...otherwise I'd get it back from him right now.

The quality is equal to any Fodera Monarch you'll find, and this bass will be lighter and more comfortable. The neck is silly nice, and it sets up dead flat.

Finally, it's the only avodire BSR-J I've ever seen. The avodire combines all the best qualities of alder and mahogany. It's totally sick.

The history? Let's see...it started out as a bunch of seeds, that took their time sprouting from the ground....eventually, they became trees, and Ken cut 'em down, made some expensive sawdust, and........voila!! (Sorry, I couln't resist!! )
All I know is that I got it from Wilbyman...it's from 99. As far as how many player's hands it went through, I really don't know, but frankly, after playing it on its first gig, it didn't matter to me if it been ridden more than the village bicycle!! This one is about as mint as you'll find any bass on the board here, let alone from 1999! The tone is seriously killing. Period. I know tone is subjective, but I've been playing 30 years, have a Master's in Bass and Percussion performance. I can't imagine any player with a lot of real-world experience wouldn't DIG this bass at least as much as I have! I'm sure you would find the same thing in Japan.... a lot of cats over there have phenomenal ears, and Smiths aren't real common there. If they are, please correct me!
One of the nicest basses I ever owned was an R Bass that had been through the hands of SEVERAL serious players, and then it came to me. I am about the pickiest SOB I've ever met when it comes to basses, their playability and sound, and this one is easily at the top of the heap!!

However, I am only comfortable shipping to the US and Canada, unless you're willing to walk me through any strange customs process that it might have to go through, as well as being willing to pay the shipping over there...lemme know!!
