NOW 22K

Early 1800's Double Bass (American Yankee or Austrian). The deal of the century at 22K...firm. This is the best sound you will find for 22K anywhere. Period.

I am greatly reducing the price of my excellent bass. Mooradian case. This is a very special bass that is in perfect playing condition. Determined to be a American (Yankee) instrument dated between 1830 - 1850 or an Austrian instrument from around 1800 (Paul Biase of NY suggestion). Very playable 7/8 size perfect for all applications. Huge organ pedal bass sound. Excellent pizz and very smooth under the bow. An absolute delight. Thanks Phil. Where do you live in NY? I'd love to come check you out on a gig sometime.

Sure thing! I live in good ol' Astoria. I'm playing this Wednesday (the 21st) at Cafe Vivaldi and Thursday at The Garage (if you can make it, I recommend the Vivaldi gig way more.. we hit at 8:15 for an hour). Hmm, maybe I'll go plug these in the Misc. section.

Beautiful bass, and the playing great as well! What work was involved converting it back to a righthander? Do you ever bring the bass over to Europe?

The bass is a right hander, my computer just flips the image. This bass has been in Europe a few times. There were many shops drooling over it but, at the time, it wasn't on the market.

I would love to know what bass you are keeping instead of this one? Or maybe it is a money issue. How long have you owned this bass Jason?

It's an important question and I've debated it over and over again privately and publicly. I listen to the clips myself and think, "damn, that is one great bass". I think, in the end I'm just looking for something "different". I've had this bass for about 6 years now and have developed my habits on it. I find that when I play other instruments I play differently. I'm curious to explore another bass and, in the process, myself. It's personal, it's not the bass. This bass was just such an instrument for me when I got it. My whole world changed in a day. I'm sure it will do the same for it's next owner. It's a real game changer.

i would kill for this bass.

would you except the entire contents of my life in exchange for this bass?...

2x Mittenwalds, 1x 1968 P-Bass, 1x beaten up old Jaguar, 3x Packet of crisps, my TV, and a Twix bar?

Yep Toad. I've changed my tune radically. I'm going to downsize a bit and pay some bills to keep my home life more harmonious. I'll miss this sound but I'll find me something regardless....course, that is as low as I can go and still be sane.
