I acquired this bow 6 years ago when I was performing in a semi-professional Baroque orchestra. I was told (though I have no documentation to support this) that this was an authentic bow from the late 18th century/early 19th century. It certainly appears consistent with a bow from that time period. The workmanship seems consistent with that time period as well. Still, I don't want to mis-represent this bow as being authentic, as I have no verifiable documentation to prove its pedigree. It simply might be...
This bow is exactly the type of bow that is appropriate for "authentic" performance of Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven, as well as Dittersdorf, Capuzzi, and Dragonetti. It's not terribly out of place with late Baroque music (ie. Bach ad Handel) either. It is actually really enlightening to play with a bow like this; it definitely shows you where to put your priorities when performing this music.
The bow is currently setup with black hair. I am willing to ship anywhere in the U.S. for free. Anywhere else, please enquire.
