I have just bought an electric upright bass and am selling my Pierre Josephs String Charger and Bridge Charger pickup system.
The String Charger is a great, hand-made magnetic pickup for Double Bass and the Bridge Charger is a piezo pickup it is coupled with for a clear, powerful sound without the feedback hassles associated with other pickup systems.
You don't even really need to use a pre-amp with this system as the passive signal is close to that of a bass guitar.
Search the forum for opinions, but this is the best (non EUB) system I found for playing big stages in a fairly loud band.
