I've got a Presonus ACP22 (dual channel) that I just re-arranged out of my rack.
These are discontinued but are awesome units. I bought mine used on eBay about a year ago and had been running an Avalon U5 into it to drive my Stewart/Acme rig. It was cool to be able to dial in the compression setting on one channel for my stage rig and another setting on the second channel for the FOH send.
Oh, when I got it, it had a bit of a "bzzzt" sound in the circuitry... something the eBay seller had neglected to mention. I went ahead and sent it back to the factory for service... so you know it's been given it's "factory authorized, new lease on life"!
Here's a pdf from Presonus so you can scope out the particulars:
These are available once in a while on the Bay still, but why run the risk of getting one with a "bzzzt" when you can get one that don't got a "bzzzt"? I'm asking $175 shipped.
It's done a bang-up job for me, but as I said, my rig has been re-configured, so let me know if you're interested.
thanks a bunch for the offer... I think i'm looking for something a bit higher end than the presonus. nothing against them (i've used their preamps), but looking for something special
dbx 163x is just fine, or if u need more fine tuning, Behringer makes a fine unit for about $100 new. works great live. If you really want it to be extra special you can open the back and tuck a few spare Fifties in there....
I'm not selling mine, but you might want to look for an Empirical Labs EL8 compressor distressor. It's got to be the best comressor I've used and you can use it all day in the studio!
I have a TC Electronics Triple C compressor that I do not use any longer. I have had it in my rack since it was new. I paid over $500 for it. I would be willing to let it go for a good price. It is completely transparent and is a beautiful compressor. Let me know.
