Anyone have one of these to sell (other than Musicyo)?? I already have a Toby Pro-5 (and love it), but I'm looking for one of the newer ones with Bubinga body wings and Asym Neck.
Thanks!

bump.

Ya know, I have yet to see one of these on Ebay even. For as horrible as everyone says these basses are, noone is willing to let one go for cheap, or even just let one go. I was somehow under the impression that musicyo sells a lot of these, but there arent many (if any) on the used market.

I don't think that anybody says that they are horrible. The electronics are weak, and the basses don't compare to the original USA versions made by Michael Tobias(or even the Gibson ones) but for the price they are very good values, other than the electronics.

Right on, Emb.
Thats what I've been saying for a few nears now. The bass itself itself is amazing (IMHO), but with the right preamp & pickups its extremely hard to beat, keep in mind for the money (again, IMHO). I can't afford a nicer "pre-gibson" Tobias, thats why I'm looking for one of these cheaper ones. Also, I'll be gigging with this heavily, and I can't bring myself to hauling around a $1,000+ bass and stressing myself out about keeping it in "mint" condition.
Thanks for everyones help and input! However I still can't find one used, so I may just end up buying a new one off musicyo.

I see quite a few of the Toby Pro-5 5 strings for sale on eBay, just not any of the Pro-5B asym neck bubinga models. I work with a guy who bought one, and while it ain't a pre-Gibson Tobias, it is a very nice bass (and yes, I agree, I would replace the pickups at a some point).

The bad thing with the Toby basses on eBay, is almost everyone I have seen in the last month have all gone for MORE on eBay than you can get them from musicyo.com for because people don't know about musicyo and they think they're getting a Gibson/Tobias. Within the last 2 weeks I saw a Toby Pro-6 sell for $720 on eBay, they sell for $629 from MusicYo. I've even sent email to a couple of the sellers and let them know that their BIN price was more than musicyo.com, and they just replied and told me to go buy one there then. Sheesh.

They (musicyo.com) has a few nice Pro-5's in the "blemish" sale for $499....

:^)~

Thanks Kahuna,

Now theres an idea... I'll just buy a few from musicyo.com and then sell 'em on ebay... Heck, I could even quit my day job!

I've thought about getting a "blemished" Pro-5B for the reduced price, but that kinda scares me. If they would let me know what the "blemish" was, and how bad it is, I would definately consider it, but their current policy is that they can't tell us what they blemish is, or the extent of it (so its a big guess and gamble), and to my understanding you can't even return it for another "blemished" unless the blemish hinders the playability or sound.

A blemish should only be cosmetic, like a run in the paint or a scratch. Anything that would affect the sound or playability would be a "defect", and I'm confident they wouldn't sell those.

FWIW, the friend of mine at work who bought one did have a minor problem with the first one they sent him, so he called them and they sent him a new one no questions asked. Seems like they have good customer service, at least for him.

Musicyo has a phone number? When I got my Toby Pro I paid something around $52 for overnight shipping. When the bass didn't come nearly 2 weeks later I started e-mailing them as to where my bass was, and asked if they had a phone number I could call instead of waiting 24 hours for them to return my emails for an answer. Their reply was that they are an internet ONLY company and no, they had no number to call... but that all could have changed by now as it was 2 years ago.

I think you would be suprised at how much of this does actually go on!!!

So it seems a lot of dealers are just sitting on eBay, as they can get more for guitars/basses there, than if they sold them any other way!

So I always mention the classic case of the MIT researchers who did a study which showed that people pay more then retail price, most of the time on eBay - and they financed the study by buying webcams at retail and selling them for more, on eBay!! :D

I also posted a thread based on this, saying that eBay was a rip-off and somebody replied by say'ng - No!! eBay isn't a rip-off, it's great! I just sold a load of worthless junk I had in my attic, for loads of money on eBay!! :)

Well, you know what they say:
...one mans junk is another mans treasure... er something.
To heck with a garage sale, I'm gonna put all my useless junk on ebay.
