Ca Glue at the the base of the crack.. let dry... then two part epoxy.. in the crack.. clamp it.. the wood putty colored to match the wood.....

why not just clear coat with nitro cellulous(SP).. and a white graphtech nut. or brass nut..
I figured that out.. by playing all three..
