Johnny started playing professionally at the age of fifteen in the bars and beer halls of Columbus, Ohio. After a stint in the Air Force as a Cryptologic Linguist, received an invitation to apply to Berklee. After leaving Berklee Johnny played extensively throughout the east coast, Southwest, Vegas, and internationally. Johnny has played with reknowned jazz pianist and composer, Larry Redhouse, highly acclaimed smooth jazz guitarist, and Fattburger co-founder, Steve Laury, Grammy-nominated Navajo singer Radmilla Cody, and favorite local bands The Coolers, and The Railbirdz. Johnny performed and recorded with Grammy-nominated, Native American legend, flutist R. Carlos Nakai up to the pandemic, in both his trio and quartet. The quartet was nominated for the Native American Music Award, and won the Indian Summer music award. He has played for opening acts for The Beach Boys, Jay Leno, The Roots, Eric Benet, and others. Johnny appears on R. Carlos Nakai Quartet’s latest release, ‘What Lies Beyond,’ and has just released his own solo recording, ‘Glimmer.’ Both are available on Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, and where ever music is sold.
