    Cecil McBee and John Lockwood were my main teachers; inspired by all the usuals (Pettiford, Brown, Chambers, Sam Jones, LaFaro, Gomez, Mingus, Holland, pre-1968 Ron Carter, plus a little Marc Johnson and Scott Colley); James Jamerson, Carol Kaye, Sting.
