I'm a San Diego native. I grew up listening to the Beatles and early '70s soul and funk. I later started listening to reggae and Afropop. I didn't start playing an instrument (bass guitar) until I was 20 years old. I played classic rock with a guitarist and various other musicians for 16 years before switching to world drums. I later took up wooden flutes for their portability. In late 2018, I dusted off my Fender Precision, sold it to buy a Squier Affinity J-Bass, and began learning the bass all over again. I added a Jaguar short scale to my small collection in April, 2020, and it has become my main bass. I'm planning to string my J-Bass B-E-A-D.
