  • Saw in a post that you played in a Pink Floyd cover band. I am going to be subbing in a Pink Floyd cover band; the main bassist is having health issues and needs a backup. Do you have any advice? Particularly as it pertains to tone, as I don't own a P bass and don't plan to acquire one for this gig. Thanks!

    Tone:
My amps are similar to the GK 400/800 amps.
Most the time, everything set flat. A slight reduction in bass, a slight boost in low mids.
    It doesn't require bright highs.
I never used any pedals which can be challenging on songs like One of These Days. I relied on finger technique and placement of the plucking hand to get what was considered acceptable.

Check out the band Comfortably Numb, from Perth Western Australia.
That was the band I was in before they became what they are today...
Their bassist is such a lovely lady and an asset to the band..
    Wishing you all the best..

Thank you for the feedback. I've never been one to overplay, which is likely why I was offered the gig. I will definitely look to those eq settings. Cheers to you!
