You can use vinyl sealer or even the clear itself as a sealer. A lot of the "big guys" use polyester as a sealer.

They are not really pricey, I just went back and purchased a quart of their "Brush-Master" gloss clear for $20.00 I will experiment a little more...
I used a small detail gun with a .8 tip mostly because I was given a 2 ounce sample to try. For a bigger piece I plan on using a normal size gun.
That is more like 1 mist coat and 2 full coats.

I think I have found a water bourne clear coat that stays clear over black AND is shinny straight out of the gun, no need to cut and buff!!
