Started playing in 1973 at 19. 95-99% ear but comfortable with rhythm charts. Now familiar with bass clef after all these years. Began playing the clarinet in 4th grade. Switched to a more becoming instrument to play in my brother's prog rock band. Also played in a Chicago-styled dance band. Played worship music exclusively now for 25+ years. Play for about 5,000 people each Sunday. Most influenced by Chris Squire (sound, sustain, drama) and Gary Willis (turn up play light, percussive attack with fingers without slapping). Turley is more recent. Great minimalist. Probably have only a few more years playing, most likely only in our orchestra. The young guys will be getting the worship and praise exclusively sooner or later. Regarding the multitude of bassess owned, I could have bought a Fender P-bass in 1973 and not bought a thing from that point forward. Poor people buy twice.
