    Teaching Credentials:
I know you are, but what am I?
I'm a Tampa resident (since '88), native of Lakeland, Florida, and a graduate of UF in Gainesville (B.A., history) and USF in Tampa (M.A., English/creative writing).
From March 2014 to March 2020 (Pandemic shutdowns), I played every Thursday and Friday with Acme Jazz Garage at Timpano in Hyde Park Village (Tampa). We started playing there, on various nights, in 2012. We've also played favorite haunts Ella's and the Independent, both in Seminole Heights, as well as many other venues and festivals, including the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, Gasparilla Music Festival (twice), The Palladium in St. Petersburg, and Skipper's in Tampa.
I also play in the bands Swan City Jazz Project and Blues Walk, occasionally sub with others, and have some ad hoc groups that we put together for private parties. Past bands: Ghetto Love Sugar, Trio Vibe, Greenwich Blue, Bop City, Liz Back on Booze.
In addition to gigging, I have a day job as a writer/editor for a professional services firm, spend time with my wife and our two adult children, contribute reviews and features to jazz/music magazines, and enjoy movies, books, photography and travel (when time & $$ allow).

    Signature

Acme Jazz Garage, Swan City Jazz Project, Philip Booth Trio/Quartet
I primarily gig with a Paulus upright (circa 1900) with Thomastik Spirocores, #Fender Tony Franklin fretless P/J, Sadowsky fiver & #Epifani amp/cab, but don't endorse any of the above ... yet!
