    great tone
This was my first bass, and remains one of my best purchases. It looks great, plays fast, sounds gargantuan, and is an absolute steal, even at the full street price of $300. Long-time bass playing friends are amazed as just how easy (and fast!) it is to play, and how great it sounds.

The only mod I made on this was to replace the bridge. The standard bridge is perfectly functional, but the black Hipshot KickAss bridge I dropped in just took the aesthetics to the next level, especially strung with DR Black Beauties.

Even though I now own several quality basses from the likes of Fender, ESP, and Schecter, I still reach for my Gretsch the most.
