I received my ATK800e from a fellow TBer, and was fairly impressed with it, especially with the tonal variety you can achieve with the active 3 band EQ and the selector for the CAP double humbucker. The neck is a little heftier than what you would expect from Ibanez, especially if you're more familiar with their SoundGear instruments. I was used to thinner necks, but I got used to it fast, and I think it may have helped change my preference on necks - it just took a small tweak to how I handle and play an instrument.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I'm effectively still a novice with bass guitar, though I came over from guitar and I feel like I have a good handle of what I am looking for in an instrument. What the ATK800 provides is an instrument that isn't really confined to any specific genre - but in actuality can excel in any genre that I've tried to play with it so far, which basically ranges from jazz and outlaw country to post-hardcore and modern metal.
The construction is pretty much immaculate, as is the balance. I would put this up against most American made Fenders that I've handled as far as tone and handling - though my experience is confined to a few instruments I've played in a local music shop, and my friends American P bass.
