    Pros - Grizzly tone!
    Great Looks!
    Lotsa Bass!
    Budget Boutique!
Cons - Can get lost in the mix without careful EQing
No blend (if you're into that kinda thing)
Old style has bigger footprint and poor placement of the volume knob
Your search for an extreme distortion for bass may end here.

I bought the older model because I simply had to have the glowing eyes. I was willing to sacrifice the real estate and deal with the top/sideways volume adjustment.

This thing delivers on it's promise to blow up your tone with really saturated distortion. It does maintain a good portion of bass frequencies with the bass boosted and the treble boost cut can really assist in fine tuning the attack for super duper dark distortion to armor piercing shrill distortion sounds.

When switching this thing on after playing with my preferred clean settings I tend to get lost a bit in the mix and have to boost up the mids to rectify that issue. Consider combining the use of the Blower Box with a preamp pedal to achieve what you might call "unity tone".

You can dial in some less gainy tones with this but I really think it shines most when pushed.

Super fun to switch this thing on, crank it up and watch jaws drop as it melts the paint of the walls.

Pros - - Great distortion range
    - Very solid build and design
    - Price is great and pedals are very available
    - Gets plenty loud
    - Light footprint on pedalboard
    - Uses standard Boss 9v plug
Cons - - MASSIVELY prefers passive basses to actives
    - Needs input pad badly
    - Built-in noise gate could be very useful
    - Clean blend may have been better than the high/low boost and cut options
I heard some demos and read reviews on this thing before getting one. The clips sounded good, but like with most distortion pedals this one did something I was afraid of. With more active basses in my arsenal than passive ones, I was hoping this one would play nice with them. To be honest, it just doesn't handle the volume range of active-level basses with much grace. Ibanez SRX3EX w/ a Bartolini 3-band pre is just too much for this guy to handle. If you run a P-bass or Jazz bass through it, it absolutely shines. This could all be solved with a simple input pad available on the pedal. I am unsure what the added cost or complexity of that would be, but the larger housing would be worth it if it had this and a noise gate option built into it.

It's a very gritty distortion with good range if you have an passive bass plugged in. The high/low boost and cut knobs do a good job if mixed correctly. Careful though, you can dial out mids with it and start losing yourself in the mix! Seems like a blend knob would have gone a long way with this pedal as well. I got it for a sharp, aggressive distortion that was anything but polite. With a regular p-bass into a tube amp with this bad boy, it will likely murder. Get a cab with good low-end emphasis, it will go a long way with a pedal like this.

All in all it's a good pedal and the builder contacted me directly with my questions. He got the pedal out very fast and was super polite, would do business with him again just based on how well I was treated. Wish all boutique builders were this fast and friendly!
