I wanted to get back to the basics, this 4 string bass hits the mark. Plays and sounds exceptionally well. I have long fingers and the custom 'C' profile neck feels great in my hands, doesn't feel like I'm playing a pencil. The sanded neck and its profile fits me perfectly. The tones range from traditional Jazz bass to the MM sound. Had to get used to the reverse tuners but otherwise this was an excellent choice in tuners. I was going to purchase a Fender American Professional 4 string, but happened to see the Geddy Lee bass hanging next to it. I picked it up to kill some time while they went to find the case for the Professional, and was completely amazed. The neck, bridge, fit and finish were typical Fender high quality. Fret work was on point, I like my action low with no fret buzz, this bass hit the mark. Separate pickup volumes provide more precise blending. Black finish with the vintage pearl pickguard is very nice touch. Overall this was a great addition, will keep for a long time...

i'm not a fender guy at all, but i am a huge geddy fan, so when they announced these, i was lucky enough to score one of the red limited edition ones (only 100 made); it's completely beautiful in every detail. the build quality and attention to detail are incredible (for example, the pickups are RWRP for noise cancellation when used together); the tone is spot-on geddy, the playability is superb (i especially like the sanded neck), and the badass-style high mass bridge is miles better than the traditional type. nothing is loose, nothing rattles, all the tuners take the exact same amount of torque to turn... i literally have 0 complaints about this instrument, and i'm a picky guy. even the case is amazing. it makes me wish i was a fender player. it's not cheap (especially when you pay USD150 over normal street price, like i did) but, in this case at least, you really do get what you pay for.
