    Fender Standard P-Bass

Why do you think that? To me a MIM p-bass is the perfect starter bass. It's versitile, sounds good, looks good, has a more comfortable neck, and can take a beating. Of course this is all my opinion.

    1980 Fender Precision, 775.00 shipped

could you post a picture of the flame on the neck? I should have some money after this friday and am looking for a good p-bass.

    Mesa Powerhouse 1000 F/T

I have a Mesa Boogie Powerhouse 1000 cab. 4x10" 1x15 in one box. The cab is in great condition. After i got it, it turned out to be overkill for most of my gigs. It's been sitting around for almost a year without use now. I REALLY need to get rid of it. I'm looking for a P bass...

Look what I just finished building!

wow, that's a pretty cool bass. I've got the reverse of your bass, a black jazz with a P-bass neck. Is it routed in the back for the LED battery? Did you install them? Also, that pickguard is gorgeous!

New Hanewinckel in the family! Lots of photos ...

SWEET JESUS THERE'S A LOT OF STRINGS IN THAT PICTURE! something like 39. Beautiful bass, but really, you should share with some of the people here who don't have ANY Hanewinckel's.

My GAS is going through the roof.

C'mon, talk yourself out of it! You don't REALLY want a zon, it's obviously a horrible bass that will sound bad. It's ugly AND fretless to boot. Jeez ;) (buy it, now, it's the only cure)

    Neck wood combo's wenge/ebony vs. wenge/wenge

Growly and agressive, eh? I think your best bet is with wenge/wenge. I have it on two of my basses and indeed they growl. Also, nothing beats the feeling of a wenge fingerboard.

    Roscoe vs. Lakland Skylines

The one i'm probably going to get has bart in it. Which is fine with me b/c every bass i own has barts, and i LOVE how they sound. I imagine the SD's sound great though. AHH, this thread is making me impatient to get that bass!!

    The Perfect Bass

I have a bass i'd call perfect, but i can't call it the "one" there're far too many situations that call for a specific sounds or look and no one bass could possibly do that. Unless of course your perfect bass is a vintage jazz, and then you need to give it to me so that i can have two perfect...

    Roscoe vs. Lakland Skylines

I've played both, and i think if you get the skyline you won't be disapointed. They have one heck of a b-string, and the look is classic. I'm in the same position you're in, looking for a bass that closed minded people are cool with, and i'm probably picking up a 55-2 cherryburst.
  15. G

    Attn. Elrick Owners.....got a question???

How far up the neck are you talking about? After a certain point, a string as fat as the b isn't going to sound properly. That said, i've had no problems on my elrick neckthough 6. I just checked on my bass and the b sounds fine even up as high as the second G or A, mabey not...

Blind test. Can you match each soundclip with the corresponding bass?

i'd say 6 is the warwick, but all the others, I like the sound of 5 the best, all the others are too zingy. But then again, i'm the kind of guy who wont take a bass out of the house for a week after changing strings.

    21 vs. 22. vs. 24 frets? What am I missing with 21?

wow, this thread really is old... 6 strings 24 frets, i like to pretend i'm good enough to justify it, but it really is nice to have all those notes there just in case.

    Albey Balgochian's Darryl Jones

danny morris has two, they're fantastic. One is pretty old, it looks like a p-bass, the other is like that jazz, with a quilt top. They sound just like a high end fender copy should. I've seen them pop up for sale every now and then, i believe the bass palace had one a while ago.

i have a two questions about fender jazz basses

a setup is simply having your bass adjusted to play better. They correct the string height, bow of the neck, and and intonation of the bridge. If you already have a standard jazz bass, you'll probably love the deluxe. It's a great bass, although I'm not the biggest fan of the preamp that's...

    YAMAHA BASSES

They're good, solidly built basses. The only thing that kept me from getting one is the tone, they're too zingy/treble-y. I imagine you can dial that out, but i didn't have a chance to playing with any of them for long enough to do that.

    Double Bass Fighting the bass

I have every intention of taking lessons again, don't worry about that. I was just trying to get my chops back first. I took about 9 months off because i didn't have my bass with me at school. I had it shipped here this fall, and have just recently been bitten by the upright bug. I didn't...

    Double Bass Fighting the bass

I have spriocore wiechs (sp?) on there. I had pirastro permanants on there before, they were a little easier on the hands but had a poor pizzacto sound. I had the bass setup and had a new bridge put on in this fall by Rutgers in boston. Hopefully the terrible boston weather didn't undo thier...

    Double Bass Fighting the bass

I am rather new to upright, i played on and off in highschool in the orchestra and in jazz band and combos. I have always thought of myself as primarily an electric player, so i never put much practice into the big bass. I had a teacher and used the simandel method. I'm in college now, my...

    Core wood for a Nordstrand

I've always been a fan of the more traditional body woods, so my vote goes for alder, swamp ash or maple. I have a bass with a wenge neck and a swamp ash body, and love the sound and light weight. That said, i've heard some killer basses with a korina body.

    What do i do now?

Since this fall i've learned more and progressed more than in the 8 years i've played bass prior. I suppose that counts for something. Also, i'm not trying to become Matt Garrison or Bill Dickens, all i want is to be able to make a living by playing my bass. Anyways, i can't drop out, i...

    What do i do now?

I'm in my second semester at Berklee, and just got my results back from my audtion to get into the performance major. I got in, but i got pretty crappy ratings. This puts me in lousy ensembles, and limits what labs i can take. I can audition again for better ratings, but i will have to wait...

    What's up with Acme?

    Does F-bass make 4 stringers?

woah, that's creepy. I was the kid w/ blond hair who saw you sitting in hallway by 1Z in 1140 and said "nice bass". Oscar's crazy good, i don't know if i'm gonna take from him next semester, i'm tempted to go with danny mo.

    Does F-bass make 4 stringers?

they sure do, there's a kid here at my school that has one, mighty nice bass.

    should i get this warwick?

That's a pretty good price, but i really think your first priority should be your amplifier. If you have a new job, you should have money later for a bass, and another one will come along. They're tons of people selling warwicks. Just avoid ebay, the ones on there are frequently shady.

    Just scored my first 6-er...

That bass looks like a great way to find out if you and a sixer can get along; not too wide neck, nice enough to love, but not so expensive as to be a costly mistake. Welcome to the 6 string club :bassist:

Went down to GC Boston today.

everyone else's guitar center does not have wonderful basses, only the one in boston. For some reason, probably proximity to berklee, the boston guitar center has lots of nice instruments that people traded in. I just wish they'd charge reasonable prices :(

    Elrick Gold Standard Questions

I've been told they play every bit as nice as the more expensive elricks. It's that's true, you're going to have one heck of bass. I'm not certain what strings came on the bass, but i found them very nice. They had black windings and a tapered B-string. They were also fairly light gauge...
