I have read that American Standard basses made in 2008 or later are superior to earlier years. Why is this? What did Fender change in '08? Are the differences significant? Just curious.

They added a new (and better IMO) high-mass bridge, new tuning machines, a thinner finish, rolled fingerboard edges, and new pickups.

Best of all though- they added some quality control.

  6. If you went to your local shop and tried one, I bet you wouldn't be asking this question now... Not being rude, just speaking the truth....
  7. Yah, my '08 Jazz is about as well built a bass as you could expect from a mass produced instrument, if not better.
