On your right hand do use the 2 finger style 100% of the time. Or do use one finger 100% of the time. Or do you mix it up between both. For me i would say 2 fingers 65% the rest only 1 finger....

Jamerson only needed one finger! ;)
  3. When I started I started using two all of the time. Worked my way up to four for extra speed and endurance but am now trying to learn to play walking basslines and find using my middle finger only to give me the best best tone for it, but I’m only playing slow stuff right now.

Always used 2. Been having problems with my pointer and started using my ring, adding 1, but still using 2. Also played a lot using 1 before I decided to use my ring finger. As soon as my pointer heals, I'll be using 3. I therefore use 1, 2, an alternate 2, and 3.

Now if I were to complicate things...

Oops... forgot all about my thumb. Use that also, but I'm not writing that again :).

    That's what she said!

No, seriously, I use a minimum of 2 (index and middle) for most songs. Although I have been known to get the thumb involved with those also.

And for certain songs, I'll even use 3- index, middle and ring (John Entwistle style).

Now I'm going to see if I can use everything but the pinky...

Fingerstyle, I'm a two-finger player. Never got the knack of using more, can't play quick and even enough with just one. I ain't Jamerson. But lately I've been playing pickstyle a lot more anyway.

Probably a mix of around 55% using 2 fingers, 45% using 1 finger.

Bizarrely, I find some of the faster parts easier to play with 1 finger.

    same here +/- 10%

strictly 2 fingers isn´t comfortable for me in some situations.
even when you would think alternating would be better.

i let my fingers decide :)

It used to be two fingers always until I took up the DB where one finger is used until you need more speed. Then I started adopting that approach for certain things on BG. For instance, chugging eight notes to me sound better with one finger, with two they are less even. As others have noted, I no longer think about it. It's funny how quickly your picking hand becomes automatic.

For the first 22 years, just one finger, and the occasional thumb. Then a decade of nothing (wrist issues). Last 8 years - 2 fingers and some thumb - as my index finger is no longer as fast as it was years ago, I need the middle finger for speed, so I had to learn to use 2. Took months to become natural.

no endorsements yet...Are you listening Spector, DR, GK, Line6?
1,2 or 3 depending on the song.
Most songs 1, some songs 2, every Iron Maiden song 3 ;-)

One or two depending on the song, sometimes a mixture of both.
