Lifehouse bassist Bryce plays all my (Nicki Tedesco's) basses! Rickenbacker, Spector Euro 4LX and TW35, Stingray, Fender P Bass and Jazz bass, ibanez SRFF805, Mitchell TB500 and FB700, King Double Bass, Huntington III Supro. Check it out and sub if you like the content! I do gear reviews/covers/tone demos and How To videos all BASS related! My channel is: www.youtube.com/ntedesco
I think it would be better if the demonstration was with the same songs, same riffs, and same techniques throughout with all the EQs (if active) flat.
I'm so glad you mentioned that! I agree. On that note, I have 2 other videos where I do dial in a tone on the darkglass pedals and THEN switch between basses playing the exact same riffs. Check those out and tell me what you think. Thanks! 5 basses: 8 basses:
Hi Nicki, the 4LX and the Precision were my favorites, although I'd also include the King in there as well. Never did see the Supro. All of them I thought were good except the first Mitchell. Just isn't my thang. The Ibby got good as he worked on the knobs, but while more complex basses don't scare me, it didn't sound great at first.
I had a hard time picking just 2 basses. The standouts for me are the Spector Euro, Stingray, & FrankenFender.
I really enjoyed that video, @NickiTedesco. I also enjoyed your review of the TB500, do you have any plans to get a TB505? I'd love to hear your thoughts on that one, as they can be had for $200 and 5 string P basses aren't growing on trees!
My own main is a P/J bass, so naturally I like that tone the best. Actually prefered the tone the cheap Mitchell TB500 has in the video slightly over the Fender P/J one. The P bass sounded ok too, but not as good as the P/J's. Visually it's of course the Rickenbacker, but owned one once, and I absolutely hated the way it felt in my hands. The other first Mitchell bass, the Spectors and the Ibanez was the worst sounding ones in my opinion, they sounded kind of muddy and undefined to me, but might be the way you had the VST amp you used set up.
Very cool vids !!! Thank you for sharing! I loved the sound of the Ric, the Spector euro, the Music man the most. Those are definitely my top 3.
Thank you for the videos I really enjoyed them and they are insightful as well. I am a Spector player and fan myself and for what I do (Progressive Metal) they are amazing. But I have to say the bass I want to hear more about is that 70's Fender Frankenbass wow talk about tonal charisma and character its alive
Hey nicki...thanks for demoing the Mitchell tb500. I have been wondering about that bass for quite some time. Now that you've demoed the bass, it actually a pretty decent bass. If you like pj basses, you should check out the Yamaha bb basses. Phenomenal passive basses. There's also an active version that has a passive/active switch. Other than that, I do dig the music man bass and the Spector bass.
