100K Control pots

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by JoseNeville, Jan 9, 2002.

  1. Hi!

I need to replace the control pot for my Fender jazz fretless in which I have installed Basslines Lightnin'Rods. They use 100k pots. I don't know where to find it. I try stew-mac, warmouth and allparts.

If I install 250k pots there any problem? How they change the sound?

    Thanks

I'm not an expert on pot values, but I think that 250k pots would make your bass too bright and clicky. If you contact Seymour Duncan, maybe they can tell you where to get them.

I think Flatwound's got the right idea - contact S/D.
They have ta' get `em from somewheres.

I did find a few places that sell `em... enter "100k ohm
audio taper potentiometer" on Google.com . I mentioned
audio taper coz that's what the S/D wiring diagram calls for --

Here's one vendor -- click. But you'd be takin' a chance
with dimensions, split vs. solid shaft w/your current knobs, etc.

Could the "bad" control maybe just need a good cleaning?
You can get some compressed air thingies at Stew-Mac
    just for this purpose.

  4. Thanks to everyone!!!

I install 250k on my bass and sound very well. He has now a little more treble but not so much. I can handle with the treble pot.

    Thanks
