Golden, Colorado - The Rocky Mountain Bass Slam is an annual event celebrates the bass guitar and showcases the wide range of musical options that bass players can provide. This event not only provides rare and surprising musical performances, but also raises money to donate bass guitars to under- privileged and life-challenged youth in Colorado. This year we will be donating to the Blue Star Connection - a local charity organization that puts musical instruments in the hands of children patients with life-threatening illness. Our goal is to put a bass guitar in the hands of youth who normally may not have access to the beautiful instrument of the bass. We pay healing forward through the gift of music. This is our 10th consecutive year for this exciting and well- attended musical event that is one-of- a-kind in the Rocky Mountain Region.

In 2017 the RMBS will be featuring two national bass performers in the Legendary Chuck Rainey and SuperFunk Powerhouse Doug Johns. Chuck Rainey is one of the most recorded bassists in music history having recorded on hundreds of chart-topping records ranging from the Jackson 5, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, and Steely Dan.

Doug Johns is known for his raw presence, energy, and all-around crowd-wowing prowess. Doug has had the privilege of working with such icons as Victor Wooten, Buddy Miles, Chuck Rainey, The LA Mass Choir, Aaron Lindsey, and many others. Bass Player Magazine writes on Johns: “One of the most credit–deserving bass virtuosos in America...it’s his inventiveness that’s consistently compelling.” The Rocky Mountain Bass Slam also features home- grown talent with Colorado’s own local bass performers.

The event is set for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 4th, 2017. All details can be found online at our website: www.RockyMountainBassSlam.com
