Who needs FOH when you have a 1200W Bergantino amp you ask?!

That's a lot of horsepower.. Gonna stop by the Bergantino booth this weekend and check it out..

Damn. The only bass specific amp that gives me gas.

Edit: I mentioned parallel compression in one of the early B-Amp threads. Nice to see it made it to the Forte. Gives a nice detailed punchy sound.

Just hope the noise-floor isn't too bad.

There'll be three of them at NAMM. I had a chance to play one and, at the risk of invoking a giant cliche, it's like a B|Amp/forte on steroids. Tons of punch, and feature-laden. 20190121_154241.

Not cliche at all. That's actually what I was hoping to hear. Looks like it brought a lot of features over from B|Amp while retaining some of the simplicity of the Forte. I can't wait to try out it this week at NAMM and pick one up this spring when available. More power then I'd most likely ever need but I always felt the aforementioned amps came up short in several situations so to have that head room and added punch is gonna be killer. And again....I love the feature set that Jim has brought together for this version. A true hybrid of his previous work rather than a straight regurgitation. Bravo.

This is an interesting offering. I personally don't need 1200W. Some may but I don't. B|Amp into HDN212 is plenty loud for me. However, more isn't bad I guess. Maybe 1200W power modules are the new 800?!? I'm more interested in all of the cool features of this amp right on the face. I'm not planning to switch yet but curious to see where this goes.

To make sure I'm following correctly, is there anything this can do that B|Amp can't, other than the extra power?

The forteHP incorporates several of the B|Amp's features including HPF, VRC, distortion, fuzz, Bluetooth wireless foot pedal and USB port for possible software upgrades. It also will have a low-pass filter. I can't think of anything that it can do that the B|Amp can't except possibly blow your molars clean out of their sockets.

what power module is this using? I believe he used a variation of the ICE700 in his other amps.
Will the HPF go below 30 Hz?

Will it provide deep, bottom-of-the-ocean, low B, bottom end like a lead sled?

It's a new 1,200-watt ICE module. The other amps use the 700-watt module. If the HPF is the same as the B|Amp's it goes down to 32 Hz. I don't know why you'd even use an HPF if you want to go below that - it kind of defeats the purpose.

For me it's so about headroom. I like having it on my Subway D800+ to save some headroom for what you can actually hear. On a loud stage, trying to produce low fundamentals often just wastes power and does little good for the overal sound in the room. I typically just dial it to the point just before where it's noticeably thinning the low end of my tone. I sometimes take an FDeck hpf with me if I'm playing through a backline rig that I know to be a little under powered. It can be the key to the difference between distorted/farty/barely there and "hey, I can hear myself this time!".

This amp is definitely about the headroom and responsiveness. Just like the acceleration in an 8 cylinder vs 6 or 4 cylinder engine. They can all cruise at 75mph (i.e. volume) but the 8 cylinder can accelerate from a dead stop or while cruising much more effortlessly and quicker than the 6or 4 cylinder. Music is about dynamics (acceleration) and that’s what makes the difference here. I would be very surprised if anyone ever hits the full output capability of this amp. We have yet to see the clip light come on in any of our initial testing, including loud rehearsals, or at Namm!

You guys have got to get out of that nasty sound trap of a back corner next year for NAMM. Can't hear anything back there other then a constant droning hum. Such a bummer for a company with such great sounding gear being stuck in that mud ball corner. The amp is KILLER though and can't wait to play one in a better environment. I think my NV212 will love all the extra headroom!

That is definitly a tough corner. It’s like a catch basin of all the Namm noise and it just builds like ocean waves against a large rock and then throws it back at you. My head was pounding by the end of day 3! I’m glad you at least got a sense of what the HP is all about. It was definitely a show stopper in our booth. Thank you to all who came by to check it out!

Oh man, I thought my amp GAS was over with the B|Amp and when I first read about the HP I thought "cool but the B|Amp has enough juice for me"... but of course I'm getting second thoughts with all this talk about headroom etc. So, for someone who doesn't need more volume than a B|Amp offers, do you honestly think an HP would still make a significant difference? I'm usually not even driving the B|Amp that hard...

Me too, challenge accepted. Feel free to send me an amp and I'll gladly play it out for the next year and let you know if I was able to get the clip light to come on. ;) :D

I'd consider this or the Darkglass as a stage backup. They both look like nice compact units with reasonable power.
