What would happen to your sound if the 12AX7 became loose inside your amp?I've been getting a horrible sound through my amp lately. It's kind of a static or cable shorting out sound that makes my speakers jump so bad I have to turn my amp off. When I bypass the preamp on my head and use my Sansamp BDDI for a preamp there is no problem.I thought the 12AX7 might have cracked or something from cold weather so I opened it up.The tube was fine but I noticed it was sitting very loose in the tube socket.I put it back in right but have not yet had a chance to try out my rig.Anyone have similar problems?

If the tube was loose in its socket, it definitely [note correct spelling] could make the kind of sound you describe. Turn it on and check it out. Report back here to us.
  3. The 12AX7 is easily replaced, and does not require a bias adjustment.
  4. sounds fam,...happened to me on a mesa rig that had spring type tube lockdowns which i forgot to repace over the tube
