This is a pretty rare sexy beast! The American Vintage Hot Rod series is a wicked underrated series, super well made with awesome fit & finish. This is a Candy Apple Red (nitro finish) Vintage Hot Rod Series Jazz Bass. It's the only bass I own that I've bought new & I do not gig. It's a shame because I want to show it off but am scared to scuff it. The CAR on this one is amazing, neck is awesome (compound radius & graphite support rods), and the PJ setup is pretty killer I'm just more of a P or J guy, not the combo unfortunately. I'll gladly keep this jewel, but I'd like to see what's out there too.

This thing has some killer features (some retro, some modern). I've listed the factory listed features below, with some of my notes on them.

    • Body Material: Alder
    • Body Finish: Gloss Nitrocellulose Lacquer (the depth and quality of the CAR finish is awesome!)
    • Body Shape: Jazz Bass®
    • Neck Finish: Satin Lacquer on Back, Gloss Lacquer on Headstock Face (nice satin finish on ge back doesn't get sticky)
    • Neck Shape: "U" Shape
    • Scale Length: 34" (864 mm)
    • Fingerboard: Rosewood (Rosewood in this one is ultra dark!)
    • Fingerboard Radius: 7.25" to 12" Compund Radius (Awesome playability!)
    • Number of Frets: 20
    • Fret Size: Medium Jumbo
    • String Nut: Bone
    • Nut Width: 1.5" (38.1 mm)
    • Position Inlays: Pearloid Block
    • Bridge Pickup: American Vintage '74 Single-Coil Jazz Bass
    • Middle Pickup: American Vintage '63 Split Single-Coil Precision Bass
    • Controls: Volume 1. (Precision Bass® Pickup), Volume 2. (Jazz Bass® Pickup), Master Tone (Both Pickups)
    • Pickup Configuration: PJ
    • Bridge: 4-Saddle Fender® Hi-Mass (essentially a badass II)
    • Hardware Finish: Nickel/Chrome
    • Tuning Machines: Fender® "F" Light-Weight Vintage-Paddle Keys with Tapered Shafts
    • Pickguard: 3-Ply White

Why am I looking to trade? I need a P Bass or a Thunderbird (plus I like trading :D).

What am I looking for? A P Bass or a Thunderbird, possibly some sort of American 5 string, also would be interested in a nice larger Combo Amp. Also I have a stupid affliction for awesome Jazz Basses.

Would I consider non P Bass or T bird trades? Possibly, never hurts to offer. I have been considering getting back into 5 strings too.

What is the weight? Pretty light, I'll have to weigh it this evening!

I'd be willing to add $ or more gear for the right trade, also willing to accept partial trades with $ coming to me. So +/- $ as necessary.

For the right bass I'd even consider throwing in my 94' Stingray with a status graphite neck.

On to the pics, I tried to capture any blemishes (which are pretty much non existent and only on the back) and the amazing depth of this finish. Check out the gold the flash brings out.

That is beautiful! I did read it as 14 foot fender.
