15 and 18 Speakers, HOW much diff

    how much difference is there really??? I want people to feel the low notes on my 5 string!! Especially if I already have 4x10 for the punch and mids??

    Any comments

    I think I know what you mean. I like my B string to get `em sweating at the San Andreas Fault Seismic Activity Center. I'm of the opinion there is a difference, (that's why I have an 18"). A difference IFFFF!!!, you're comparing apples with apples and not with oranges. In other words a well made 15" with a well made 18". I think cabinet design, porting, are at least as important as speaker size if not more so, as well as the speaker design, (e.g., magnet size, voice coil, cone material, etc.).

    So, my answer is that if you're comparing a good 15" cabinet, (Ampeg/Eden/SWR, et al), with a Kmart 18", the 3" difference doesn't create any sonic advantages.

    I have had both, the 18's are much fuller esp @ higher volumes. Now I have 2!!!
