Looking for a bass, new/used, under $2200: 18mm spacing Dual coils 5-string Under 10 pounds Aesthetically not too traditional (currently not digging the classic J or P bass look) Active preferred but not a must Seems that all I could find are Ibanez (I've had 2 of them and currently looking to try something else) and Dingwall (too aggressive for me)...I actually like what Kiesel is offering but all they have are 17mm and 19mm...Any suggestions would be appreciated bros! Thank you!
Fender American Pro Precision or Jazz are both 18mm and around $1500 or less. I think Lakland Skyline 5501-2 might be 18mm and they are both under 2K, 5501 is under 1k. I'm sure there are a lot more.
Thanks man, but the Fender American Pro is a tad bit too traditional-looking for me and the Lakland body shape is just not my thing. I have also tried a Skyline Japan and found that it's not aligned with my preferences in several aspects
I would look into getting a Roscoe Standard used as they are as good as anything you will find in the $2000 and under price range. Also the Ibanez SR5005 Prestige are amazing basses for that price range and under.
Also, look for Brady Muckelroy basses, they are not looking like a Fender style bass and they meet all the requirements you have identified.
It seems that Amy tbers love Roscoe...I'll keep an eye out for em thanks As to the sr5005, I think it's 16.5mm like most Ibanez 5ers right? Electric Basses SR - SR5005 Prestige | Ibanez guitars
I thought you wanted 18mm or less so yes the Ibanez Prestige is 16.5 but still amazing bass. The Roscoes standards are as good as anything for the money.
Is the Ibanez BTB 5str 18mm? Ibanez Bass Workshop BTB845V - Antique Brown Stained Low Gloss I'm thinking it is and, the body is certainly non-traditional. Ibanez premium basses are as good as just about anything at any price.
Dingwall is too aggressive in looks or tone? I assure you tone wise they can do a lot more than what the majority of videos are showcasing on YouTube. How about a Modulus Q5? They check all of your boxes as well.
My Q5 is 18mm or I thought it was. And it's got adjustable string spacing too with the Hipshot A Style bridge.
I think Dingwall is 19mm. I'll doublecheck my notes on my Combustion from when I was getting pickups made. Combustion would be my go-to 5 under $2k though.
Tries a few Warwicks, the tone isnt my taste and it's generally too heavy for me...I dig the small body sizes though
Both tone and looks. And it seems that multi scale don't suit me well. (I actually own a Combustion 5, which I don't play, currently. It's a nice bass though)
My only recommendation if you can find one is the Thumb Dirty blonde. P in the neck, humbuckers in bridge. Adjustable 17.5-18mm string spacing. I had a 5-string that was about 8-8.5lbs. They go for between $1700-2000.
